The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. At the same time, the League works to influence the development of sound public policy through advocacy of its members.

League advocacy is based on positions reached by the membership after careful study and discussion. National positions were studied by all members; state positions were studied by members within Tennessee; and local positions were studied by members in Nashville.
